US gasoline under $3.50 for first time in 6 months
Tuesday, October 07, 2008
Guardian News -- WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - U.S. retail gasoline prices fell 15 cents a gallon over the last week, dropping below an average $3.50 a gallon for the first time in six months, the government said on Monday.

The national price for regular unleaded gasoline is $3.48 a gallon, up 71 cents from a year ago but the cheapest since April 14, the federal Energy Information Administration said in its weekly survey of service stations.

Pump prices are falling due to a combination of cheaper crude oil and declining gasoline demand.

U.S. crude oil futures settled on Monday at the lowest level in eight months at the New York Mercantile Exchange, dropping $6.07 to $87.81 a barrel.

Parts of WI are now $2.759-$3.389.

I'd guess the average I've seen as of today is about $3.059-$3.099 today. Should continue to drop...

Gasoline inventories are due out later today, expected to show an increase in supply, either as a result of reduced consumption or increased production, should help keep pressure to push prices lower, I have my fingers crossed

our gas prices have fallen a little in the past few days, but we still have a way to go. Most of the stations are about 3.35-some a little lower and some a little higher.

Gasoline prices are down... sad part is that people are back to driving fast, racing away from stops, braking hard after accelerating all the way to the light...

Cheap gas fuels the addiction... tax gasoline and help us kick the habit(s)

Don't worry, speculators will jump back on board and artificially drive prices back up on leveraged dollars as soon as they see the slightest glimmer of sunlight in the market...

I could believe that last night I found a gas station at $2.99/gal. This after filling up on Friday at $3.49/gal the next town over. What makes it more ridiculous is that last night the closest competitor was selling it at $3.29/gal! I hope it keeps going down!

Most stations are under $3 in Sioux Falls. Now if it will continue to $2 things will be getting back to normal.

What goes down, must come up. At least in an industry where profit margins are more important to its business decisions than people.

crude is simply another commodity. Commodities are not stable they are bought and sold just as stock is. Demand up - price up, demand down, price down.

Our gas just broke the $5/gal Cdn mark last weekend but today its going up from the $$4.80/gal Cdn it was at. With oil going up, can see it hitting $5 soon.
That's 40% more than the 3.48 mentioned above.... & rising.

it seems everyday here prices are dropping. in the last week its dropped about 40 cents. finally it seems like the prices ARE following the price of oil. we just need to get the oil down to aroun $50 or so. still up from before katrina, but not so bad that its not acceptable
